Scrappy Saturday Sewing ~ Scrappy Dresden Plates from Life in the Scrapatch

Sewing the Scrappy Irish Chain Dresden Plate Quilt Again.

As my readers know, I started this quilt a s part of the

Scrappy Irish Chain Sew Along @ Coriander Quilts

and was making good progress in January and February.

I was at the point where my blocks were complete

and I was sewing the blocks together into rows.

Then in early March I decided to add Scrappy Dresden Plates

to the center of my alternate blocks.

Then the great dining room renovation happened.

At the end of August, my qulty kitties and I were at last able to set up

our ...

Quilty Kitty Nutmeg Is Sew Helpful from Life in the Scrapatch

Last night I  finished sewing all the strips for my Block Bs.

For the first time in a long, long time,

I was sitting at my machine when midnight arrived.

My days have been busy otherwise.

Today Nutmeg was a helpful quilty kitty inspector.

Many times she left the comfort of her warm and comfy

cutting table cat bed to check my work.

After I promised her I would use my seam ripper on any of my piecing

that was not purrr-fect.

I pieced ... and yes I did use my seam ripper a few times.

The two strips on the ...

Fabulous Fabric Friday ~ Five Hearts from Life in the Scrapatch

 I have new fabric!

It is fabulous.

I just love it.

I am giving this fabric five hearts:

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I have not bought any new fabric in months

so this really brightens my gray and stormy day.

This fabric was inspected by master Quilt Kitty Katniss ...

... and given the paw of approval.

This fabric is

Bird Song By Pat Sloan for Benartex Fabrics

There is a free pattern for this fabric release

Nature Walk Quilt Pattern ~ Free PDF Here

I did find the panels, which seem to be going out of stock in some places ...

A Fun Day in the Sewing Scrapatch from Life in the Scrapatch

Improv ~ Stripes  ~ End Of Week

for the

30 Days of Improv Blocks QAL

@ Broadcloth Studio

Day 5 of Stripes Week called for incorporating negative space as a design element.

I pulled this 10" square from a different layer cake by Gingiber.

Then I pulled some cutoff strips from my scrap basket.

After I cut and sewed my first improv, this little kitty came to supervise and help.
Do you know which little kitty is giving her paw of approval?

Here is another clue.

It is Maestro!

For those of you who read my kitty stories, you will know that Maestro ...

Sewing Friends ~ #IGQuiltFest2021 ~ Day 13 from Life in the Scrapatch

My constant Sewing Friends are my quilty kitty helpers.

 I am very much a Stay-At~Home Quilter.

I have never been a member of any local quilting guild or group.

Through Covid-19  my kitties and I have been sewing and quilting as usual.

The above photo was originally posted Here in 2013,

when Katniss was a newbie quilter.

Since then, I have added my long arm machine

and the Little Sister Quilty Kitties, Nutmeg and Maestro.

They are sew very helpful.

Much of what I learned about quilting has been from online friends.

I have been on quilt forums and ...

OMG - Count Down On! from Life in the Scrapatch

My OMG April 2020 Goal Here is to bind this quilt.

The month is slipping away and I had not even started this goal until today.

Today I made the binding and machine stitched it to the front.

Then I started to hand stitch it to the back.
I really enjoy this bit of hand work to finish a quilt.
It gives me time to pause, to reflect and to enjoy.

Maestro is very actively helping me with this stitching.

I have to take time to pause and distract the cat.
She loves this bit of round elastic which she ...

If Wishes Were Stitches from Life in the Scrapatch

My quilty kitties and I have been stitching.

Maestro is very "paws on"

Katniss has been inspecting her work very closely.

Together,  my kitties are making progress with their hand quilting.

Nutmeg is taking a nap somewhere.

Maybe I will just leave the stitching kitties to their work
and go join Nutmeg,

Maybe the stitching will be all done for me when I wake up.

:-)

"Hello.  I am Nutmeg here saying meow y'all.
Merry Kitty Christmas and Happy Kitty Mew Year!

Christmas was a fun one here in the scratchingpatch.
There were lots o toys and catnip for all."

"My sister Maestro likes this one with a fluffy feather for her to lick and chew."

"Katniss and I both chose this warm and fuzzy fleece blankie
which someone thinks he gave to Mommy but it has cats printed on it
so clearly it is for us cats, right?
It is mine, really, but I have to share it with Katniss,
 because neither one of ...

I Like Thursday # 36 ~ Home Sweet Home from Life in the Scrapatch

I like to be Home.

I have been home since late Sunday night and have been doing lots of snuggling
under the quilts with the kitties.

Katniss, who is older and whom we have had the longest,
met us at the door with her big eyes.
Katniss takes these things in stride.

My Boys  alternate house sitting, coming and going and feeding and petting them.

All My Kitties love My Boys.

My kitties are happy we are home.

Nutmeg has strong memories of a traumatic life in shelters
or being abandoned by someone she loved.
When we came in she ...

Quilts 'n' Comfort Food from Life in the Scrapatch

I have spent most of the day under the quilts
with my cuddle cats.

I feel cold, stuffy, achy and fuzzy headed.
It might be a cold.
It might be allergies.
It might just be the change of the season.

Yesterday, I made a Sunday Morning coffee cake ...

Banana Crumb Cake

Cake:
3 cups flour ( I use a mix of 1 cup cake flour and 2 cups all-purpose flour)
1 and 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 eggs
1 cup mashed ripe bananas
ΒΌ cup oil or melted butter ...

Long Sewing Weekend ~ Day 1 from Life in the Scrapatch

This little quilty kitty  is enjoying the new covers that I sewed last night
for the small pillows on my bed.

The ones I made to go with  My Favorite Bed Quilt in 2011
were beyond "shabby chic" and just plain shabby and worn out.

In those days, my black and white kitty was my Butterfly,
who crossed the rainbow bridge two and a half years ago.

Today it is my Maestro.

When I adopted Maestro as a kitten
she very much reminded me of The Butterfly,
and not just because she is a black and white tuxedo cat.
As ...
